Best E-bike Vacations: Jackson Hole

Next on our series highlighting the best places to vacation with your Espin electric bike, Jackson Hole.

Jackson Hole is a valley located between two different mountain ranges in the state of Wyoming. This low-lying valley is home to a variety of wildlife and has abundant natural beauty, and luckily for us, trails perfect for e-bikes. Here are some of the best:

Grand Teton National Park

The Grand Teton National Park is for more than hiking; in fact, this national park has more paved biking trails than any other national park. From 15 miles of multi-use pathways inside the park to 67 miles of pathways that extend into the surrounding area. These long winding roads are the perfect place to enjoy the landscape and the crisp mountain air. With these long paved pathways, you can truly enjoy your e-bikes at a higher speed while viewing the picturesque Grand Teton Mountains and surrounding valley.

Old Pass Road

This is a multi-use paved pathway extending from the town of Wilson about 7 miles and 2,000 vertical feet to the summit of Teton Pass. The steep climb on mostly straight paved roads makes this the perfect place to enjoy on an e-bike.

The scenery here offers lovely mountain views and a beautiful lakefront, but one of the things it is best known for is its beautiful selection of wildflowers along the trail. After the challenging climb up Old Pass Road, the trip back is all downhill and a breeze, and after finishing up, you can enjoy the sites and some refreshment in the rustic, alpine town of Wilson.

Abandoned Railroad Bed Trail

The abandoned railroad bed trail is a mostly dirt and gravel trail made out of just what it sounds like an abandoned railroad bed. This makes it a mostly level and straight trail, perhaps not perfect, but definitely great for e-bikes.

The trail follows the abandoned railway bed alongside the Yellowstone River and the park's north boundary with an incredible view of Electric Peak. After finishing the trail, you will turn around and head back the same way for an overall 8-mile round trip.

One of the best parts of this Yellowstone trail is the wide variety of wildlife to spot, so keep an eye out. Some of the animals known to frequent this area include bison, pronghorn, elk, and both black and grizzly bears. Remember to always keep at least 100 yards away from bears, and it's a good idea to keep bear spray with you as well. Also, it can get pretty hot and dry on this trail, so remember to bring your summer riding gear.

North 89 Pathway

The North 89 Pathway is a beautiful 12 ½ mile paved trail that starts at Flat Creek and passes through Grand Teton National Part ending at the town of Moose. You can ride full speed on this level trail and enjoy stunning mountain views and frequent wildlife sightings. Plus, this trail provides great access to other trails in Grand Teton National Park.
