FAQ

+ What is an electric bike (e-bike) and what makes it different from a regular bike?

An electric bike is just like a regular bike, except for 4 main electrical components: the battery, motor, controller and display. Other than that, it will function and ride just like a normal bicycle.

The Espin eBike is a pedal assist bike, which uses the motor to increase the power created when you pedal. So it rides and turns just like a regular bike, it just makes riding easier, especially uphill.

+ What is Espin made of?

Espin pedal-assist eBikes are made from 6061 aerospace grade aluminum alloy.

+ Can I ride my Espin pedal-assist e-bike in the rain?

Yes, we have waterproofed all the wiring and electrical connections so it can withstand rain. Of course, one should not let the bike just completely soak in the rain if possible, but there is no need to worry about riding in rain.

+ Can I assemble it myself?

Yes! The assembly takes less than 15 minutes and we even provide all the tools you need. If you run into any issues, you can follow along in the assembly video.

+ What maintenance is required?

Maintenance is exactly the same as a regular bike other than the four main electrical components: battery, motor, controller, display. You should do basic tune-ups on your bike after the first 100 miles. Regular tire pressure checking is important as you want to keep your tires inflated for maximum riding comfort.

Other than that, the electrical components should require minimal maintenance and if any issues arise, please follow the instructions to diagnose the issue, which will be included in the user manual. If you are still unable to fix the problem, please submit a warranty claim and we will process your claim as soon as we can as we understand you want to get back on the road as quickly as possible.

Espin Nest First 150 Miles

Overall the experience has been good, The bike was easy to assemble. I had to do some adjustment on the derailleur, as it kept slipping, overshifting, etc. However once adjusted it was great. Park Tools has a great video on YouTube on how to adjust the rear derailleur. I also noticed a strange vibrating noise, starting at 19mph and stopping at about 22mph, it would happen on pure downhill with PAS set to 0 and no pedaling. It turned out to be the wheel reflectors vibrating against the spokes, the reflectors are attached to the spokes and the ends have small articulating arms, the middle of the reflector was vibrating against the spokes, so I made an X with two tie wraps, which fixed the issue. The brakes on this bike are top notch, very quick stopping with no noise. The bike is just plain fun to ride, great upright riding position, the fat tires give a smooth ride and smooth out all the bumps in the road. The hand grips feel great. As far as distance, I am seeing about 35-40 miles with a mix of PAS 1 and 2, mildly hilly terrain. Good amount of torque, watch out when starting in any setting but PAS 1, it starts you very quickly.

Great bike, weak battery.

We love our Nestas over our previous RadRovers except for one thing. The battery range is not good. They say 40 miles but we’re lucky to get half that on pedal assist 1 and 2. The battery is only 10.5 ah. That’s simply not enough if you prefer trips over 20 miles. What to do? We bought two additional batteries from a recent 1/2 price sale. The only issue is they take up a lot of precious cargo space.

That’s the downside. We love the acceleration, top speed and maneuverability of these bikes. Quality seems great, but time will tell.

Great Bike!

It was very easy to assemble. Rides great. Just what we were looking for to go on local rides yet easy enough to bring on camping trips. I am going to start using my bike for local computes to the store, etc.

Fun bike

I have a Rad Runner 2 as well and like this bike much better because:

Has 8 gears though I wish it had 12

A little faster but I plan on removing governor to get a few more mph

Seat is is much more comfortable

HUD has mph, mileage

CON:

Sometimes when starting from dead stop the motor kicks out and I have to dethrottle/rethrottle

Still a little heavy for a folder but lighter than RR2
