FAQ

+ What's the difference between Espin's Flow and Sport e-bikes?

The Flow is a European inspired design built for the urban commuters who wants to zip through traffic and ride comfortably. Elegant 17” step through frame that allows you to mount and dismount easily and safely anytime you want.

The Sport comes in a 17 inch diamond frame and is for riders looking for a more sporty and aggressive riding style.

+ How will the Flow's tire do in snow or a beach environment?

The Flow is meant for pavement and will not handle snow. For snow, try the Nesta or Nero.

+ What is an electric bike (e-bike) and what makes it different from a regular bike?

An electric bike is just like a regular bike, except for 4 main electrical components: the battery, motor, controller and display. Other than that, it will function and ride just like a normal bicycle.

The Espin eBike is a pedal assist bike, which uses the motor to increase the power created when you pedal. So it rides and turns just like a regular bike, it just makes riding easier, especially uphill.

+ What is Espin made of?

Espin pedal-assist eBikes are made from 6061 aerospace grade aluminum alloy.

+ Can I ride my Espin pedal-assist eBike in the rain?

Yes, we have waterproofed all the wiring and electrical connections so it can withstand rain. Of course, one should not let the bike just completely soak in the rain if possible, but there is no need to worry about riding in rain.

+ Can I assemble it myself?

Yes! The assembly takes less than 15 minutes and we even provide all the tools you need. If you run into any issues, you can follow along in the assembly video.

+ What maintenance is required?

Maintenance is exactly the same as a regular bike other than the four main electrical components: battery, motor, controller, display. You should do basic tune-ups on your bike after the first 100 miles. Regular tire pressure checking is important as you want to keep your tires inflated for maximum riding comfort.

Other than that, the electrical components should require minimal maintenance and if any issues arise, please follow the instructions to diagnose the issue, which will be included in the user manual. If you are still unable to fix the problem, please submit a warranty claim and we will process your claim as soon as we can as we understand you want to get back on the road as quickly as possible.

Love my Espin Flow

I bought my Espin Flow in March 2021 and wanted to ride it one season before writing a review. Overall, I loved my new E-Bike. Thought it has it's pro's and con's like everything.

Pros:

- The Flow is a LOT of fun to ride. Fast, comfortable, sturdy.

- The bike worked as advertised with speed and distance. My longest ride was 44 miles and I still had enough power to go further. Learned how to ride fast for short rides and slower for long rides to make the battery last.

- The battery worked as advertised, for the power needed for riding and the length of charge time.

- Electronic display was great. Though I'd prefer a battery percentage meter instead of bars.

- Pedal assist shifting and gear shifting worked great.

- Loved the swept back handlebars. Very comfortable for a more upright ride. I'm in my 60's and a comfortable upright position is essential for me.

- It's a great value. Compare it's price and features to other brands and you'll see what I mean.

- Awesome customer support. All my issues were quickly resolved. Though see comment in Cons section.

- Most of the components are well made, quality parts.

- Nice wide, comfortable seat

Cons:

- The user manuals really sucked. These were literally photocopies from Chinese factories that were of no use.

- Out of the box I had a few of issues during assembly. Customer support at first was not helpful. They would state: "bring it to a bike shop and we'll reimburse you". Which wasn't an option. Most bike shops around me…

Espin Flow

The 2 bikes arrived with a few scratches, but work great and are a lot of fun. Great customer service from Espin as I called often due to shipping issues. On one bike the brake on the right handle bar is too loose and needs adjustment and I’m frustrated because I can’t find any directions on how to adjust it. Otherwise all is good and I can’t wait for warmer weather to get outside and ride. Unless everything is perfect and beyond my expectations I never give a 5 rating. If I give a 4 rating everything is good.

Several hundred Miles and Loving it!!

My bike arrived in Feb but due to a knee injury I could not ride until June. There were a few bugs to work out but Espin worked with a local professional and made everything perfect. Now I ride it almost daily and do all my errands with this bike. We live in a very hilly area and most folks don’t ride bikes because the hills make it too challenging to go even short distances. Since I have been using this as my car I get constant comments, wondering how I can navigate this terrain with a load of groceries, or questioning if that “comfortable” looking bike is even an Ebike? Many ask how they can get one for themselves or a non riding spouse. Here are my thoughts…

1) Customer service is second to none. If you have any issues they are there for you and respond quickly and kindly to resolve problems. I realize shipping 1000s of miles can take it’s tole so I am grateful for such kind and quick responses

2) this is a feature rich bike and I love the hydrolic breaks, ergo grips, comfortable saddle, quick change front wheel and seat height, bright front like and tail light (though I always supplement tail lighting), handle bar adjustment, upgraded grippy pedals, and sturdy rack system. These are things I have always had to upgrade immediately on my name brand “bike shop bikes” in the past.

3) unlike many Ebikes this bike is balanced so the extra weight is not so high that you feel like you are tipping over. The sturdy kick stand holds it well even on gravel or trails.

4) the battery…

Love it!

I am really enjoying my espin bike!! I use the pedal assist or throttle assist a lot but do use my pedal power some of the time. I’d rather get outside in the fresh air and sunshine and use the assist of the electric than not get out! All of the gears etc are easy to use and figure out. I feel safe when riding!!
