We want to thank you for your support for Espin e-bikes. As one of our most valued customers, we wanted to make sure you are always the first to receive the latest developments at Espin.
In that spirit, we wanted to inform you that we made the difficult decision today to raise the prices of all of our existing 2021 models by $100.
The reasoning behind this decision has a few different factors. Firstly, the entire e-bike industry is facing a number of challenges, including parts and components shortages. Batteries are in short supply, and getting them has become more costly, especially as we continue to use top-of-the-line Samsung cell batteries, which are in high demand. As we’ve had to pay increased prices for batteries, this is also reflected in the new costs of our bikes.
The second reason is that shipping costs have increased over the past couple of years as well. Our bikes are manufactured overseas, and as such, they have to be shipped to our warehouse in southern California from the factory. The price of shipping containers, as well as tariffs placed on goods imported from overseas, are also now factored into our prices.
As a small, family-owned business, these increased production and shipping costs have hit us harder than they would a larger bike manufacturer. However, we want to be able to continue to provide our customers with high-quality e-bikes at reasonable prices, and want to be transparent about our reasoning behind this decision. Our customers come first, and we don’t want to sacrifice quality or service in our products. We remain committed to providing the same quality you’ve come to expect from Espin, and keeping you informed of any changes to our products, pricing, or company.
